of all the 54 species composing the genus Parnassius
with all their prospecies, in an attempt to clarify
their classification, by presenting a check-list
and a phylogenic tree, as well as comments on the
validity of certain taxa. Illustration in colours
(scale 1/1) of both males and females of each species
and prospecies (with some typical subspecies). Large
scale and regional distribution maps of all the
species within the holarctic region (Eurasia and
North America for widely distributed species), Europe
and the Himalayan region, for more localized species.
Maps of France for the 3 species present, with indication
of the subspecies. Heading for each species, with
details allowing their identification, references
to the food plants, and information about the altitude
and the flight periods. Although written in French,
this booklet is designed to be completely accessible
for non French-speaking readers (Phylogenic tree
and systematic check-list using Latin nomenclature
throughout, maps, colour plates, flight periods
and altitudes and food plants (Latin names). At
midway between specialised monographs and regional
field guides, this compact but up-to-date and documented
booklet gives the non Parnassius-specialised entomologist
essential information on the knowledge and the repartition
of all the Parnassians of the world.

| Part
3 (Rhopalocera 2) of Lepidopteres de Guyane is dedicated
to several groups of Rhopalocera (mainly Nymphalidae
and Riodinidae), that are studied in a systematic
and very complete way. Christian BREVIGNON deals
exhaustively with the Satyrinae (73 spp.), as two
other chapters on the Riodinidae : the Symmachia
(Jean-Yves GALLARD) (24 spp.) and the complex of
Euselasia euoras (Christian BREVIGNON) (7 spp.).
Xavier CHOIMET presents three genera of Nymphalidae
: Charaxinae : Prepona (10 spp.), Memphis (females)
(9 spp.) and Agrias (3 spp.). Yves LEVER describes
and illustrates all the forms known in French Guiana
of Heliconius melpomene, one of the most widely
spread and most variable South American Heliconiinae.
All these forms, whose certain remained previously
not described, are illustrated and classified in
a didactic way, as a function of the variations
of the wing pattern
